Frachtschiff
Your own cloud - one drive or a whole pool
Self-hosted storage that feels like a normal cloud on a single disk, and scales into one unified volume when you add more - local drives, VPS mounts, or network storage boxes - with optional priority-based replication across them.
Capabilities
From a simple cloud to a multi-drive pool
Start with one bind-mounted path and use it like any personal cloud. Add more mounts later - leftover disks, or remote volumes already mounted on a VPS - and work in one namespace while the pool places and replicates behind the scenes.
-
Works with one drive
A single storage path is enough. You get the full web UI, uploads, sharing, and sync client without needing a multi-disk setup.
-
Priority replication
With two or more drives, Normal, Medium, and High tiers control how many whole-file copies land across healthy mounts. Raise priority when it matters; reclaim space when it doesn't.
-
Unified namespace
Browse folders and files as one logical drive - whether that is one disk or many. Placement stays in admin views; users never pick “disk 3.”
-
Resumable uploads
Web and desktop sync use the tus protocol for reliable large-file transfers with no fixed size cap beyond pool capacity.
-
Desktop sync client
Selective bidirectional sync on Linux, Windows, and macOS with device tokens and conflict prompts - keep both versions when needed.
-
Self-hosted Docker stack
Postgres, API, and web UI via Compose.
make setupthenmake start- terminate TLS at your own reverse proxy.
Features
Built for everyday use
The web app is meant to feel like a personal cloud: browse, upload, share, and find things quickly - with clear feedback when replication or space needs attention.
-
File browser
Create folders, upload, download, rename, move, and delete in a single tree. Set folder priority, or override it on individual files when you need to.
-
Photos & media
Browse images and media in a dedicated gallery view, with thumbnails and in-app playback so you do not have to download first.
-
Search
Find files across folders you can access without walking the tree by hand.
-
Sharing
Share folders with other users (read, write, or folder admin), or create public share links for people outside your instance.
-
In-browser viewers
Open common media, archives, and spreadsheets in the UI for a quick look before you download or sync.
-
Trash & restore
Deleted items land in trash first. Restore what you need, or empty trash when you are ready to free space for good.
-
Clear storage feedback
See raw free space and effective capacity after replication. Uploads show pool cost; at-risk files surface copy counts instead of failing silently.
-
Account security
Optional TOTP two-factor login, session and device management, and API keys when your admin enables them.
